Officer Lunsford has dedicated his life to protecting our country and the city of Las Cruces, New Mexico. He is a devoted husband and father to two young boys.

In August of 2022, he was faced with an encounter that involved Officer Lunsford having to do his job, and a life was lost. An investigation was conducted and ruled lawful, doing his duty to protect others. He now faces a difficult road ahead. Officer Lunsford has been charged with voluntary manslaughter for an officer-involved shooting that occurred in August 2022.

All Funds raised will go towards his

Officer Lunsford

Officer Lunsford enrolled at New Mexico State University in 2012. During this time he applied and was accepted into the Las Cruces Police Department's 43rd academy in 2013. Officer Lunsford has served the people of Las Cruces, NM for ten years as a Patrol Officer. He was awarded Officer of the Month in June 2021. Officer Lunsford prevented the suspect from taking a motor vehicle with a toddler inside. The toddler's mother and grandmother were placing their groceries inside the vehicle when the suspect jumped into the driver's seat and attempted to flee. Officer Lunsford's actions led to the suspect's arrest and the child being safely returned to the mother.

Brad Lunsford grew up in southern New Mexico. He is a U.S. Army combat veteran. Officer Lunsford completed basic training in 2007 at Fort Knox Kentucky as a Cavalry Scout. Officer Lunsford married his high school sweetheart upon completing basic training. Officer Lunsford moved to Killeen Texas (Fort Hood); where he was assigned to 1st Cavalry, 6th Squadron, 9th Cavalry Regiment. In late 2008 he deployed to Iraq. Officer Lunsford was stationed at FOB Normandy, in the Diyala Province of Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. Officer Lunsford completed numerous missions throughout his deployment. Officer Lunsford received his combat action badge (CAB) after sustaining damage to his Humvee from an enemy improvised explosive device. Officer Lunsford went back home to Fort Hood briefly only to be deployed for a second time to Tal Afar, Iraq (FOB Sykes), in 2009.

Officer Lunsford completed his obligation to his country in 2010. Officer Lunsford received the following awards for his service to his country: 1 Driver/ Mechanic Award (DRV/ MECH),    3 Army Commendation Medals (ARCOM), 1 Valorous Unit Award (VUA), 1 Meritorious Unit Commendation (MUC), 1 Army Good Conduct Medal (AGCM), 1 National Defense Service Medal (NDSM), 2 Iraq Campaign Medals ((ICM-CS), 1 Global War on Terrorism Service Medal (GWTSM), 1 Army Service Ribbon (ASR), 1 Overseas Service Ribbon (OSR), and 1 Combat Action Badge (CAB). Officer Lunsford exited the U.S. Army as a Specialist (E-4). Officer Lunsford went back home to southern New Mexico.
